IDUG Fundamentals Courses

The IDUG z/OS and LUW Fundamentals Courses are available exclusively at IDUG NA and EMEA events. These in-person only training sessions run parallel to our planned sessions. Fundamentals registrants are eligible to test at the end of week at no additional cost. 

Experience the IDUG conference while working on your fundamentals skills! The IDUG Db2 Fundamentals for z/OS Course, which begins on Monday, October 28 and closes on Wednesday, October 30, runs alongside traditional technical and breakout sessions and allows participants to master Db2 fundamentals while taking part in IDUG 2024 EMEA Db2 Tech Conference activities. This four-day for-beginners Db2 z/OS basic course is designed for z/OS database administrators who need to acquire the basic skills required to administer a Db2 database in a z/OS environment. Db2 12 for z/OS beginning DBAs can develop fundamental skills or recognition through lectures and hands-on exercises of:

  • TSO/E and ISPF
  • JCL and SDSF
  • Data Sets
  • Db2 Utilities
  • Db2 Objects
  • Db2 Logging
  • Structured Query Language
  • Db2 Program Preparation
  • Db2 Commands
Experience the IDUG conference while working on your fundamentals skills! The IDUG Db2 Fundamentals for LUW Course, which begins on Monday, October 28 and closes on Thursday, October 31, runs alongside traditional technical and breakout sessions and allows participants to master Db2 fundamentals while taking part in IDUG 2024 EMEA Db2 Tech Conference activities. This four-day for-beginners Db2 LUW basic course is designed for individuals who will plan, implement, and maintain Db2 11.5 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows databases. These skills can also be utilized to support cloud based databases using Db2 on Cloud or Db2 Hosted environments.

  • Overview of Db2 11.5
  • Locking and concurrency   
  • Db2 Command Line Processor (CLP) and GUI tools
  • Security
  • The Db2 database manager instance
  • Database rebuild support   
  • Creating databases and data placement   
  • Db2 database and tablespace relocation

Certification & Badging with IDUG

IDUG and IBM are proud to offer z/OS and LUW certification and badging opportunities to our in-person attendees at no additional cost. One exam per attendee is complimentary with your paid IDUG EMEA Db2 Tech Conference Registration. This year at IDUG EMEA 2024, certification will be offered via voucher. Badging information, including registration and exam times, is posted below. 

All onsite attendees at IDUG EMEA 2024 are eligible to receive a complimentary z/OS certification exam with their paid registration. If you have indicated z/OS as your primary platform in your registration form, you will be receiving an e-mail containing a voucher number and instructions before November 30. All onsite attendees at IDUG EMEA 2024 are eligible to receive a complimentary LUW badging exam with their paid registration. 
To register for an exam: 
  1. Send an email to badges@idug.org and provide the following information:

    First & Last Name
    Email Address
    Exam Choice
    Day & Time Choice

  2. Select the exam you'd like to take. There are 5 exam choices:

    Db2 11.5 Foundations Exam
    Db2 11.5 Administration Exam
    Db2 11.5 Advanced Database Resilience Exam
    Db2 11.5 Advanced Database Design & Application   
         Development Exam
    Db2 11.5 Advanced Tuning & Debugging Exam

  3. Let us know what time you'll arrive to take the exam. Here are the day/time choices:

Please Note:  No walk-ins will be accepted.  You must book in advance and you will receive a confirmation once you are officially booked.  This is a Bring Your Own Device exam.  Photo ID will be required at exam time.

The exam location will be posted onsite. Badging opportunities are available to onsite attendees only. 

IDUG EMEA 2024 Presentation Library

Registered attendees may now access the IDUG EMEA 2024 Presentation Libraries. Attendees who have purchased onsite passes may view the entire library of files submitted by our speakers. The IDUG EMEA 2024 Virtual presentation library is hosted with the Virtual Portal, linked above. 

The IDUG team will continue to add and update files as they are received. You must be registered for EMEA 2024 and logged into www.idug.org to access the files.

Venue | Palacio De Congresos De Valencia

The technical program of the conference will take place at the Valencia Conference Center, a building that won the prize for World's Best Convention Center in 2010 and in 2018, awarded by the International Congress and Convention Association. The building is an emblematic piece of architecture, designed by
the renowned architect Norman Foster, specifically to attract event tourism to the city of Valencia.
