IDUG is excited present the IDUG 2024 Latin America Db2 Tech Conference, hosted in São Paulo, Brazil on Tuesday, August 20. The deadline to submit your speaker presentation for consideration is 30 June 2024. 

This year's event will host thought leadership from around the world, coming together to present both dynamic main stage sessions as well technical sessions in three concurrent breakouts throughout the day.

Better Db2 backup runtimes on AIX: Using encryption for backups and databases

As we live in challenging times, are leaving the traditional on-premises datacenter and are using more and more cloud-based IT offerings, increased operational security is one of the topics of today. An easy to achieve but powerful option for databases to improve security is to encrypt the database and database backups. Therefore, an increasing number of Db2 customers are encrypting their database using Db2 native encryption for data in rest. Other encryption options are not in focus for this document (e.g.: Encrypted File Systems or IBM InfoSphere Guardium). Continue reading

Why is Ingest into Db2 Warehouse faster with Cloud Object Storage?

n the journey of adding Cloud Object Storage (COS) support to Db2 Warehouse, the primary motivation was reducing the storage cost (a dominant factor in any warehouse environment) by transitioning to a more modern storage architecture that primarily used COS. This allows us to deliver a 34X storage savings over traditional network-attached block storage. In terms of performance, the expectations were that it would achieve comparative performance with traditional network-attached block storage. Continue reading
